Super Mario Bros. is maybe the most influential game of all time. It was rated the greatest game of all time in IGN's 2005 poll. It was also the best selling game of all time until it was overtaken by the Wii Sports title. Super Mario Bros. revolutionized the platform gaming scene. It single-handedly popularized the side scrolling genre in the 80's Super Mario Bros. has been Nintedo's bread and butter since it was released. Being ported to almost every console or handheld Nintedo ever made. Mario is also the most recognizable character in the Nintendo plethora of games.
Super Mario Bros. was developed by Nintendo and was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka who both originally worked at Nintendo's creative department. The musical score was composed by Koji Kondo and went through several iterations until the final product was finished.
Super Mario Bros. was released in 1985 as a type of sequel to the Mario Bros. game. It is a two player side-scrolling, platform game. The first player controls Mario and the second player controls his brother Luigi. Player 1 and player 2 alternate in taking turns whenever a players gets killed the next one would play his game.
Super Mario Bros. story is as maybe simple in terms of plot and story but it works in advancing the game. You play as either Mario or Luigi as plumbers who find a pipeline that leads them into the Mushroom Kingdom. You find out that the Princess Toadstool has been kidnapped by the evil Bowser and you must go and rescue the princess. You must jump on enemies to kill or knock them out. You can also get upgrades such as the mushroom which makes Mario or Luigi bigger and can take an additional hit. Or the Fire Flower which allows your player to shoot fireballs. The Starman upgrade makes your player invincible for a short period of time.
